Changing a Studio's Subdomain in Taramala

When you sign up for a new site in Taramala, you will be asked to create a unique subdomain for your studio. This subdomain will be used by students and teachers to access your Taramala site online. It also provides a way to uniquely brand and identify your studio.

If your studio undergoes a change, such as a change in ownership, you may wish to use a different subdomain. This can be done with assistance from the Taramala support team. Please note that this is a significant change; once completed, your Taramala site will no longer be accessible using the old subdomain/URL. For example, if the old URL to the student schedule was https://mystudio.taramala.com/classes and the owner wants to change the subdomain from mystudio to yourstudio, the new URL will be https://yourstudio.taramala.com/classes. The original URL won't work anymore.

Update's to the Studio Website

As part of the switch to a new subdomain, you may need to update their studio's website to point to the new subdomain. You can do this yourself or with the help of your webmaster. It's a simple change that generally involves editing the HTML widget to point the new subdomain. The studio may need to do this herself or with the help of her webmaster. Generally the HTML widget needs to be found and edited so that, using the previous example, any references to https://mystudio.taramala.com/classes are changed to https://yourstudio.taramala.com/classes.

Process for Changing the Subdomain

To make this change, contact Taramala support using help@taramala.com and provide the new subdomain and a few times in the coming days that you would be available to make this change. While it's not necessary to zoom at this point, you and possibly a webmaster will need to be available. Once you and Taramala agree on a time to make this switch, here is what to expect at that time.

  • You will be contacted by email by Taramala to make sure you are ready and available to make the change,
  • Respond that you are ready and log out of Taramala,
  • Taramala will make the change in 5-10 minutes and email you again once the subdomain has been updated,
  • Update your studio website to use the new subdomain,
  • Log into Taramala teacher app using the new subdomain.

Once you are done with your changes, email Taramala support so that they can perform checks on their end.

And that's it. The entire process should be done in 20-30 minutes and the change can always be rolled back if there are any issues on your end.
