Setting up Custom Pricing
By setting update package types for punch cards, subscriptions and drop-ins, you can quickly setup how classes are priced by default. For classes and events though, you can customize how the pricing is done to override those defaults for one or more classes and events.
Taramala has a number of options for customizing how drop-ins, punch cards and subscriptions are priced.
- Set up donation based classes, perhaps a yoga class on the town common,
- Price an event using a different price, perhaps with sliding scale,
- Set up custom punch cards that only apply to a Tai Chi class.
This section goes through these options.
Custom Pricing Options
For simplicity most classes will paid a standard drop in fee or students can use punch cards or subscriptions for payment. Still, especially for events, custom pricing is needed. Taramala supports custom pricing directly in the class or event edit page.
Custom pricing can be setup when editing classes and events in the setup tab. Custom pricing is always set for events, for classes simply select the class select 'Custom Pricing'.
Once custom pricing is enabled you have the following options:
- setup a sliding price schedule,
- setup a price to be listed as a donation,
- support your member subscribers by offering free access to an event,
- options to allow students to use punch cards or subscriptions as an alternate form of payment.
Support for Donations
Students can be prompted for an optional donation when registering for a class as shown below. The donation can be a fixed amount or a sliding scale amount.
A student will see a donation like this.
Allowing Subscriptions and Punch cards as Payment
When punch cards are allowed for payment, the student will be given the option to either pay the custom price or pay using a punch card when registering for a class.
When subscriptions are allowed for payment, the student is essentially offered this class or event for free as a benefit for being a subscriber.
Custom Punchcards
Custom punchcards allow you create punchcards specifically for one or more classes. For example, if you want to offer a yin yoga class and offer it at a price that is more than your standard price and offer punchcards specifically for that class. In that scenario, you can create a Yin Yoga punch card and turn on custom pricing for that class and assign the Yin Yoga punch card to that class.
In this example, you would have already created a custom punch card in Setup/Packages. In the create dialog, select the 'Custom Pricing' checkbox. It's not possible to edit this field once the package type has been created.
Once created, these custom punch cards can be associated with a class.
Once setup, students will be able to by these punch cards that can only be used for specific classes. This allows you to price the punch card differently from the regular studio punch cards.
Note that custom punchcard support is not offered as part of the BASIC plan.
